Walking In The Garden Reflection

Welcome to the Psalms of Our Lives series. In the ‘Walking In The Garden’ episode, I will share my story and song of praise about celebrating life in victory by walking daily in the Garden with my Abba Father God.

We were cheated of our original inheritance of walking in the garden with God for eternity. Before the ‘fall of man’ and the world was broken, we were in perfect harmony with the creator of all things.

The deceit began with a conversation between the serpent (the enemy) and Adam and Eve, the first people created. The part of the conversation that caused Adam and Eve to disobey God’s command went like this. Genesis 3:4-5 NLT. “You won’t die! The serpent replied to the woman. God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”  Genesis 3:4-5 NLT.

At that moment, Eve chose to eat the fruit from the Tree of Life because she wanted to be like God, and Adam decided Eve was more important than God. He, too, ate of the fruit.  This was also the first time Adam and Eve felt shame and fear. This changed the course of mankind’s relationship with God.

The good news is that we have been given another chance to walk in the Garden with God daily.  The choice is yours and mine!

Truth in the Word of God: Colossians 3:12 NLT. Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”

We have been chosen!

The Psalm I wrote to help me express my gratitude for salvation follows:

I don’t have to run

I don’t have to hide

When we’re walking in the Garden

When you call my name

I won’t be afraid

When we’re walking in the Garden

Every time I ‘step in it’ and fall short, I ask for God’s forgiveness.  I also do my part by remembering and reflecting on how to be more aware of my shortcomings.  Trust me, I am a repeat offender and must give myself grace not to be trapped in shame and fear.

Pray: Abba Father God, Thank you for the privilege of walking with you daily.  I do not have to run or hide because of fear or shame.  Jesus came from Heaven, shared wisdom to live life to the fullest, and died in my place.  I did not earn it or deserve it.

Thank you, Lord, for a path to be with you forever. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

Take A Moment To Reflect:

  • What is it like when you felt you had to run and hide because your actions were against God’s will and you were afraid or felt shame?
  • How did you feel after being open and honest with your Abba Father God about your missteps?

Until next time, create space to connect with your Abba, Father, God, and:

  • Be Aware: God wants an open and honest personal relationship with you.
  • Be in Gratitude: You may ask for forgiveness for your sin anytime and receive forgiveness.
  • Be Praising: Sing a song of praise. Speak openly with your Abba Father God.

Be Blessed, Beloved
